Strong, dedicated, caring and loving person, these are the characteristics of Mrs. Elma G. Pagdato. A mother and a friend to her five beautiful daughters. Born to the family of businessmen in Passi City, Iloilo, Philippines. She was the 2nd child in the family of seven and born on March 8, 1954. A secretarial graduate at the University of Iloilo (1971- 73) and was married to Leopoldo Pagdato, on the 15th of September 1973. They were blessed with five lovely daughters in whom three of them are also working here in Hong Kong and the other one is currently a nurse in Egypt.
For the love of her family and the desire to provide high-quality education and bright future to her five beautiful daughters, Mrs. Elma got a job as a domestic helper in Hong Kong in September of 1991 up to date. She has worked for three different employers who all gone for good and transfer to the 4th one and stayed for 5 years until now.
Before she came here in Hong Kong she served as barangay secretary for 13 long years (1977-1990) and treasurer of the Multi-Purpose Cooperative for 3 years (1988-1990) in her place, Brgy. Arac, Passi City, Iloilo.
While here in Hong Kong, she made a tremendous effort to sustain and support all the needs of her family especially her kids. Her perseverance and hard work was rewarded by the time her daughters graduated in college:
Cheryl - Registered Nurse, 32 years old, married and presently working in HK for 10 years in only one employer.
May Joy - Food Technology Graduate, 31 years old, married and also working in Hong Kong for 11 years.
El Jean - Registered Nurse, 29 years old, married and working in the Middle East as nurse (Riyadh, KSA-2 yrs. /Egypt – from March 2006 until now.
Ma. Ophel - BSEED graduate, 27 years old and working in Hong Kong for 3 years. She was crowned Ms. Passi City 2006 here in Hong Kong.
Leah Grace - Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering graduate, 25 years old.
Aside from taking care of the financial needs of her family, Mrs. Elma Pagdato still managed to build and bought some properties and got some investments in the Philippines. These are as follows:
* A fully-furnished and concrete two-story house with 6 bedrooms in 589 sq. meter lot.
* Purchased 3 hectares of land that produces sugarcane.
* Swine Raising and Hog Fattening Business.
* Owned 1 unit tricycle used for transportation.
* Owned 1 unit hand tractor for farming purposes.
* Owned numbers of carabao for livelihood (Raised by other people as their own source of income).
* Provide financial assistance to the market vendors in Passi City with a capital of more than P100,000.00.
* Cash savings in bank (Philippines & Hong Kong)
After long years of perseverance and determination Mrs. Elma Pagdato found herself involved in Passi City (Iloilo) Association Hong Kong. She became the Vice-President (Internal) of PCIAHK after its launching on November 9, 2003 up to the present. She performs her obligation with sincerity and vigor. In connection with this, PCIAHK awarded her an Outstanding Contribution Award last November 12, 2006 during its 3rd anniversary celebration.
During her stay here in Hong Kong, Mrs. Elma Pagdato has attended the following :
* Conference on Multiple Borrowings and its problems and solutions organized by PCIAHK on 23rd Jan, 2005.
* Post-Arrival and Orientation Seminar conducted by PCG-HK on 26th Nov, 2006.
* 3rd Legal Workshop for Leaders conducted by the Phil. Assn. of HK (PAHK) on 29th Apr, 2007.
Officers and members of Passi City (Iloilo) Association Hong Kong regard her as their second mother because of her compassionate and caring behavior. Because of this, Mrs. Elma Pagdato is truly the Greatest Mom for the Passinhons!!!
